Creative Hibernation with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and artist Emma Kerr

Let nature hold space for your creativity this winter!

Creative Hibernation is a free 6-week creative wellbeing course for women with artist Emma Kerr and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust’s Wellbeing Leader Imogen Jackson. Throughout the workshops there will be a variety of invitations to make, explore and be in nature. Using the season as a starting point, we will discover how winter might inspire us.

What’s it all about?

Through nature and art workshops in the landscape, and in the gallery space at Langford Lakes, we will experiment with making, recording nature, and responding to experiences using a range of art materials and processes. There will also be opportunities to create pieces to take back into your own space, bringing a touch of nature indoors. Creative invitations may include drawing with inks, printing, and mobile-making.

Silence and stillness are often associated with this time of year, lending the course its name: creatively navigating the hibernation period. We will observe the pace, patterns, and preparation in nature, noticing and connecting creatively with the wintery natural world around us. Come and join us for Creative Hibernation this winter!

Course Access Information: Free mini-bus pick up and return at Salisbury Train Station. We will spend time outdoors, so dress warmly and the course will involve walks on potential uneven ground at a gentle pace.

Our creative courses are for people living in Salisbury specifically within the SP1 – SP5 postcodes and are ideally suited to those with low to medium mental health needs– like anxiety, depression, low mood, stress, and feelings of social isolation.

The courses and support offered are designed for those looking to improve their mental and emotional wellbeing, connect with others, meet new people in a safe and supportive environment, explore new creative skills or learn more about local heritage and culture.

Well-City Salisbury primarily uses a social prescribing model where participants are referred/signposted onto a course by their GP practice, support organisations or school wellbeing team, for example. However, we also welcome self-referrals if that route doesn’t work for people and where they currently are on their wellbeing journey. Both referral routes require completing a referral form which can be found below.

This course is free to attend and available for adults 20+. All materials and refreshments are provided.
