Project Funding Update

We are thrilled to announce that Well-City Salisbury will return for three more years after securing funding from the National Lottery Community Fund!

We’re over the moon that Well-City Salisbury will return in Spring 2025, ready to build on our work with Salisbury residents. Bringing together the experience and skills of 4 partner organisations, ArtCare, Wiltshire Creative, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and Wessex Archaeology who are the project leads. Together we will continue to provide 10-week long creative courses and further activities designed at making a positive change to the mental health of everyone involved in the project and fostering a sense of belonging within the Well-City Salisbury community.

We are delighted to continue supporting the community and deeply value your ongoing support in making positive strides to creating a well-city!

What is Social Prescribing for Creativity, Health and Connection? How can we support patients and people with extra needs to engage with creative activities to support their health and wellbeing?

We are thrilled to be speaking at The National Centre for Creative Health (NCCH) upcoming webinar on Thursday 6th March 2025, from 1- 2pm, where we will share our projects model and hear from other organisations and partnerships using the social prescribing model with the webinar’s host Esther Watts, South East Creative Health Associate. The session will include a Panel Discussion followed by a Q&A.

Join us for a morning of connection and creativity on Social Prescribing Day on Wednesday 19th March 2025!Learn about Well-City Salisbury, hear about the latest project updates, the referral process and discover upcoming courses.

Take a moment for yourself and enjoy a creative activity inspired by our previous courses and experience how these activities can positively impact health and wellbeing. Meet the project team, connect with artists and participants, and network with others working in the social prescribing landscape.

This event is open for those working in the voluntary sector, local organisations, community links workers and social prescribers, tickets are free and can be booked via our Eventbrite page.

How Creative Health supports the NHS Long Term Plan -a South West view

At the end of last year Well-City Salisbury had the pleasure of speaking at The National Centre For Creative Health How Creative Health supports the NHS Long Term Plan conference. We shared our cross-sector partnership project alongside inspiring creative health projects from the South West, including those from our colleagues at Wessex Archaeology inclusion team, projects included Digging for Erlestoke, Project Rejuvenate, Ripple Effect, and Dig in Cafes.

The day was full of connection, collaboration, discussions, showcasing the incredible creative health practices happening in our region. Together, we explored how creative health can align with and support the NHS Long Term Plan.

Participant Wellbeing Activity Pack

The Well-City Salisbury Celebration and Symposium 2024

What an incredible week celebrating the project through a series of celebration and symposium events!

It’s been a joy celebrating the achievements, sharing the learning, and highlighting the contributions of everyone who participated, facilitated, and supported the project, connecting with the community and fellow organisations.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us in exploring what makes a well city and how we can work together. Putting people at the heart of everything we do and creating lasting positive change in our communities.

End of Year Exhibition 2024

We are delighted to share that our end of year exhibition will be shown at The Young Gallery from September through to November.

This exhibition celebrates the creative achievements of our participants this year and tells the story of Well-City Salisbury, highlighting what the project is and the positive impacts it’s had on those involved.

Pint of Science comes to Salisbury this May 2024!

We are very excited to be invited to speak at this years Pint of Science in Salisbury this May 2024.

Pint of Science is a worldwide science festival which brings researchers to your local pub/cafe/space to share their scientific discoveries with you – no prior knowledge required.

Join Well City Salisbury to see how they are using the arts to improve the mental health of locals, and learn about nature and conservation of Porton Down’s Stone Curlew bird population, and hear how global interconnectedness is achieved.

We will be exploring and discussing the impact of creativity on individuals and the power this has on a community led with one of our experienced Well-City Salisbury artists, Sue Martin.

Pint of Science returns 13-15 May 2024 and Well-City Salisbury will be talking at The Winchester Gate on the 15 May.

Adult Mental Health Aware Half-Day Course!

After the success of last year’s community training day, we are very pleased to announce that we will be hosting another free Adult Mental Health Aware Half-Day course on Wednesday 22 May. Training will take place at Salisbury Playhouse, 10 -3pm, light refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Well-City Salisbury are offering this opportunity to groups and businesses as an investment in our local community, where we work together to support people with mental health needs. We hope this offer can pave the way for shared learning across the city and supporting each other in creating a Well-City Salisbury.

Adult MHFA Aware Half-Day course gives an introductory 4-hour session to raise awareness of mental health. Learning will take place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. Numbers are limited to 25 people so that we can keep people and staff and supported while they learn. The course will be delivered by Tracy, Director of Open Minds Training and Consultancy and you can find out more about Tracy experience and the course by visiting Open Mind’s website.
